Simon Yakubu, the District Head of Dugwaba in Hong local government area, of Adamawa State has dismissed the online report that the hometown of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) was attacked by suspected terrorists forcing people from village and its surroundings to flee.

“The report is misleading, malicious and was intended to mislead and create confusion in our communities.

“The purported report is from the enemy of peace and progress who doesn’t want to see people living in peace and harmony with one another,” Yakubu said.

He stated that people were living peacefully and celebrating Christmas in the villages mentioned in the online report.

The District Head said reports reaching him from all the villages mentioned in the online report indicated that people were going about their businesses unmolested.

Also, the Police in Adamawa State, through its spokesman DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, denied report, explained that there was no truth that the people of Dabna and Kwabre Villages in Dugwaba District of Hong Local Government Area had abandoned their homes as a result of alleged attacks.

He said so far there has been no report from the security operatives that the area has been attacked.

“Yes, there’s kidnap scare around those villages. Of course it’s normal for the people to be scared. But the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ahmed Barde, has directed the deployment of troops to safeguard the areas.

“The command received unverified information that people are fleeing from some villages as a result of alleged Boko Haram attacks.

“As security personnel, we do not play with any information that borders on insecurity.

“The command immediately deployed anti-terrorism squad and intelligence officers to the suspected areas and so far there has been no report of attack or people fleeing their villages,” he said.

Recall that an online report said residents of Kwapre and Dabna villages in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State have fled their homes over persistent attacks by bandits.

Kwapre, Dabna, Lar, Zah and other adjoining villages are in Garaha Ward, where the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, and the slain Nigerian Army Brigadier General, Dzarma Zurkusu, hailed from.

According to a community leader in Garaha, Honorable Hyella, people fled Kwapre to escape being trapped.

“People have justifiable reasons to run for their lives, because 52 persons were abducted in April this year and only eight persons have returned home since then. Now that there’s a buildup of heavy presence of suspected bandits in the area again; the people have to run for their lives.

“People have to run because kidnappings happen on a daily basis. The bandits have begun to tax villagers; so far they’ve taxed Dabna, Sushiu, Lar, and many villages within the Duguba district to pay safety levies.”
