ENUGU — The Acting Chief Judge of Enugu State, Justice Afojulu Ozoemena has been invited by the Enugu State House of Assembly for screening and possible confirmation as a substantive Chief Judge of the state.

The invitation was extended by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Edward Ubosi on Tuesday after receiving a letter from the Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi nominating Justice Afojulu Ozoemena.

Speaking during plenary, Ubosi also revealed that the National Judicial Council, NJC, has approved the nomination of Justice Afojulu Ozoemena as Chief Judge of Enugu State awaiting his confirmation by the House.

The Speaker then directed the Clerk of the House to communicate Justice Afojulu to submit 25 copies of his curriculum vitae on Wednesday and appear before the lawmakers on Thursday, 13th of January, 2022 for screening.

Recall that Justice Afojulu Ozoemena was sworn-in as the state Acting Chief Judge on 7th September, 2021 after the retirement of Justice Ngozi Emehelu, immediate past Chief Judge of the state.
