NNEWI — The Chief Medical Director – CMD of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital – NAUTH, Dr. Joseph Ugboaja has paid a working visit to the Premium Kidney Hospital in Nnewi, Anambra State. The visit was upon invitation by the management of Premium Kidney Hospital led by Dr. Okey Chidolue, a US-trained attorney and former Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority.
The visit was initiated as an on-the-spot assessment of the quality of work at the hospital, which is projected to be set for commission around March, 2022. Premium Kidney Hospital is expected to be one of its kind upon completion and will be headed by Dr. Mrs. Nene Chidolue who is bringing with her over thirty years of experience in renal care, in the United States of America.
Premium Kidney Hospital is located along old Nnewi-Onitsha road, precisely in Edoji village of Uruagu Nnewi. The hospital has a state-of-the-art building, with elevators, typical of modern medical centres in advanced countries. During the visit which lasted for about an hour, the CMD Dr. Ugboaja, visited with Dr. Ogene, Dr. Ezejiofor, Dr. Chioma, Sir. Udemezue the immediate past Nnewi Town Union President and other members of his team, took time and went round the building, inspecting different sections of the hospital building while Dr. Okey Chidolue was handy to provide answers and explanations to the team’s curiosity. With Dr. Okey Chidolue were Barr. Esione and Chief Obienu, who joined him to receive the visitors.
Reacting after the visit in a brief interview, the young visionary and vivacious Dr. Ugboaja expressed his delight in the quality of work done at the hospital. ‘He has done a great job’, the CMD said. Speaking further, he also said that Teaching Hospital Nnewi will collaborate with Premium Kidney Hospital in many ways to ensure superlative health service delivery to the people.
“We believe in a public-private partnership for the purposes of providing quality services. Like I said earlier, we have the vision to build a regional centre for renal care services. So it’s a big collaboration. He is already building the structure. We have trained personnel… it’s a win-win situation for everybody’, Dr. Ugboaja said. On the quality of work, the CMD said he is impressed. ‘I am impressed about the quality of work. The building is top-notch. I have not seen the equipment but from what he said, they are also topnotch,” Dr. Ugboaja concluded.
He is a Technical Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano’s Special Adviser on Legislative Matters, whoonce was a Special Adviser to a former Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly. Ebuka is a second class upper division graduate of Political Science from University of Calabar, Calabar Nigeria and holds a Masters Degree in Political Science with specialization in Government and Development Studies, from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Nigeria
