YOLA — The Chief Judge, Adamawa state, Justice Nathan Musa has observed that most of the provisions of the panel code are not in tandem with the Adamawa State Administration of Criminal Justice 2018, especially the provision relating to mandatory sentences.

The Chief Judge made the observation while inaugurating a seven-man committee for the review of the Adamawa State panel code law 2018 and the Administration of Criminal Justice 2018 held on Tuesday at Murtala Nyako centre state secretariat complex Yola.

“For effective implementation of the Adamawa Criminal Justice Law, the panel law code must be amended or reviewed to give room for the exercise of discretions in the award of punishment,” Justice Musa said.

He expressed optimism that such lapses will be taken care of since the committee is comprised of able and capable personalities.

Responding on behalf of the committee, the committee chairman Justice Samuel Kyason says the two laws have been in existence for more than two years and nothing has been done.

Justice Kyason who solicits inputs from members of the bar promised that they will discharge the assignment diligently.
