ENUGU — To aid the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, operations against drug abuse and trafficking, the Enugu State Government on Wednesday donated four operational vehicles to the Agency.

Presenting the vehicles to the Enugu State Commander of NDLEA, Anietie Idim Bassey, the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, SSG, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya said “The state government is determined more than ever before to ensure that the state in particular and the society, in general, is rid of all forms of drug abuse and trafficking”.

Recounting the menace of drugs on the youths and the damaging effect on society and future generations, the state government vows to remain committed to eliminating the cankerworm in society.

He further revealed that in a bid to rid or bring drug abuse and trafficking to the barest minimum through proactive interventions and awareness creations, the present administration appointed a Special Assistant, SA, on Drugs and Narcotics, for the first time in the history of the state; Chidi Egbuogu.

Receiving the vehicles, NDLEA State Commander, Bassey Anietie Idim, commended the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi administration for the donation.

Bassey said, “The vehicles, which are unbranded, will aid our operations as we can now go out without people really knowing where we go”.

“I want to appreciate His Excellency, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for providing these vehicles and other interventions. The vehicles are in good condition and they will enable us to be very flexible in our operations. We are grateful and we pray that God Almighty will always guide him,” Bassey prayed.
