DAURA — Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, Emir of Daura in Katsina state has warned the general public that Daura traditional titles are not for sale, but for those who have made meaningful impact and sacrifices for the unity of the nation.

The Emir while conferring a traditional title of Dan Amanar Daura (Trusted son of Daura) on the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amechi, in his palace at Daura, Katsina State on Saturday said: “I don’t give title because of money.

“The emirate doesn’t collect a dime from anyone before conferring traditional titles. Our title goes to those who have devoted their time and resources to the course of the poor in the society, as well as those who have contributed meaningfully to the development of Daura emirate.”

“only deserving persons that have proven their worth, whether they be black or white, rich or poor, are given traditional titles by the emirate.”

An APC Chieftain, Nasiru Haladu Danu was also conferred with the title of Tafida Babba Daura at the event.

Among the high profile personalities from across the country that attend the event include Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State, his deputy and Secretary to the state government, former Bauchi Governor, Isah Yuguda, the Oni of Ife, Oba Adewusi, Emir of Dutse, Erin Edet Ekong (Cross Rivers Traditional Rulers Council), Abdullahi Lamido Sunusi (Magajin Garin Kano), State Minister of Education, State Minister of Health, Minister of Trade and Investment, Yusuf Tukur, among others.
