SOKOTO — A local government councilor, whose name is yet to be verified, has caused an uproar on social media after donating two plastic floor mats to the Sadada community in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The councillor didn’t stop at donating the mats, but also proudly posed for pictures with his benefactors as he presented the mats to them.
Nigerian politicians are fond of donating such ridiculous and bizarre items as tricycles, motorcycles, wheelbarrows, etc. as so-called economic empowerment or welfare packages.
The donation of floor mats, however, shows that the practice is being taken to new and embarrassing heights.
The photos of the councilor presenting the floor mats to the community members have since gone viral on social media and Nigerians are criticizing the councilor unsparingly.
