LAGOS — Nollywood actor, Ugezu J. Ugezu has spoken against the practice of parents conducting DNA tests on their children.
Taking to his Instagram page, the popular actor expressed his reservation for DNA tests, stating that carrying out DNA tests is not African.
Alluding to Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart, he noted that any child who calls an African man ‘father’ is the man’s child.
He further expressed the negative consequences of the result of DNA tests, emphasizing that it is wrecking a lot of homes.
He wrote, “This DNA thing is not really an African thing. A child born to an African man is the African man’s child. Our fathers held this belief and enjoyed peace of mind. This DNA stuff is tearing many homes apart and destroying many innocent children. In THINGS FALL APART, the mother Earth rose against Okonkwo for killing the child who called him father. THINK!”
