ENUGU — The Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC, on Thursday announced the results of the February 23, 2022 Local Government Elections, declaring the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, winners in all the 17 LGAs for both Chairmanship and Councillorship.
Dr. Mike Ajogwu, Chairman of ENSIEC who declared the results at the Commission’s Headquarters in Enugu disclosed that the PDP candidates scored the highest number of votes cast in all the elective positions contested; 17 Chairmanship and 260 Councillorship seats.
“PDP Chairmanship candidates garnered more than one-quarter of the votes cast at the election in each of at least two-thirds of all the wards in their respective council areas,” Ajogwu reiterates.
“The Certificates of Return were issued to the newly elected Chairmen while that of the Councilors will be issued to them in their various LGAs,” Ajogwu reveals.
The ENSIEC Chairman further revealed the results of the winners; Walter Ozioko of Nsukka LGA (163,240 votes); Benneth Ajah of Aninri LGA (28,602 votes);
Chukwudi Ozoeluba of Ezeagu LGA (56,611 votes); Pedro Okwudili Nwankwo of Awgu LGA (43,327 votes); Livinus Nze Anike of Enugu East LGA (83,242 votes); Emeka Onunze of Enugu North LGA (41,215 votes).
Others include, Barr. Robinson Chiemezie Nkwuo of Enugu South LGA (54,220 votes); Anthony Ikenna Nwodo of Igbo-Etiti LGA (35,044 votes); Williams Ejike Itodo of Igbo-Eze North LGA (88,751 votes); Vitus Okechi of Igbo-Eze South LGA (48,820 votes); Obiora C. Obeagu of Isi-Uzo LGA (36,467 votes); Okechukwu Edeh of Nkanu East LGA (38,843 votes); Uchenna C. Ejim of Nkanu West LGA (6,379 votes); Chinedu Onyeagba of Oji River LGA (58,652 votes); Solomon Izuchukwu Onah of Udenu (88,957 votes); Philip Nnamdi Okoh of Udi LGA (43,514 votes) and Celestine Chukwudi Nnadozie of Uzo-Uwani (13,488 votes).
ENSIEC board members present as the result was announced are Barr. Chukwudi Celestine Amah (Secretary); Dr. Greene Anike-Nweze (Commissioner); Hon. Solomon Udeh (Commissioner); Rt. Hon Theresa Egbo (Commissioner); Hon. Chinenyenwa Anthonia Ogbu (Commissioner); Dr. Bernadine Ezugwu (Commissioner); Barr. Ugwu-Nnadi Anthony Ugochukwu (Commissioner) and Barr. Obiora George Ani (Commissioner).
