YOLA — The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Yola, Barrister Isuwa Misali has reiterated the cardinal objective of the Ministry is to train and retrain staff for optimum productivity.

Barrister Isuwa disclosed this while declaring open a two-day in-house capacity building for Administrative lower cadre staff of the ministry, Tuesday, noted that when administrative staff have the requisite knowledge of their work government documents and transactions will be safe.

He stated that due to lean resources of the government it will not be able to send staff to the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria ASCON, Lagos, and other Institutions to acquire knowledge, hence the need to organize a capacity building for staff.

The Permanent Secretary added that the ministry will continue to adopt an approach of in-house training which is less expensive and interactive and hope other ministries will emulate it.

Barrister Misali stated that similar training was done for Information officers, while for directorate cadre is underway and charged the participants utilize the knowledge acquired so as to improve productivity in their day-to-day official engagements and close the gap that existed before.

In her welcome address, the Head of Administration in the Ministry, Mrs. Belly Andrew said the capacity building is to update knowledge and administrative skills of the participants.

In his goodwill message, the state chairman of the Administrative Staff Association of Nigeria, Mr. Jessin Buba Lassa expressed delight with the foresight of the organizers; maintaining that dealing with files is treating personal life with files.

Two papers on clerical duties, minutes taking and memo writing were presented by Musa Abubakar Shelleng and Pwanagoshi Magdiel.
