The government of Ukraine has reported that over 10,000 couples across Ukraine have tied the knot since Russia launched an invasion on February 24.
A Facebook post shared by the official account of Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice on Wednesday said that 10,683 couples across Ukraine have tied the knot amidst the war with Russia at the time of writing.
The ministry also added that the country had recorded 10,767 births since the war with Russia began.
“There is war in the country, but life does not stop,” the post, originally uploaded in Ukrainian, reads.
“Children are born, and Ukrainians bind themselves by marriage vows. All of this requires proper design.
“From the beginning of the war in Ukraine was registered 10,683 marriages and 10,767 babies.
“Our employees have continued to work even under war conditions. The power is in each of us.”
Alongside the post, the ministry shared photographs of couples who registered their marriage despite the escalating conflict with Russia.
The ministry had earlier reported on March 7 that 3,973 couples had gotten married and over 4,300 babies been born “in different corners of Ukraine.”
