LAGOS – The All progressives Congress (APC) national leader and presidential aspirant, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, hosted some former Super Eagles players and delegates of Kanu Heart Foundation at his Bourdillon residence on Saturday, March 19.
The visit was ahead of a novelty football match between the ex-Eagles Internationals and Team Asiwaju in commemoration of Tinubu’s 70th birthday on Sunday, March 20 at Onikan Stadium, Lagos at 2:00pm.
During the visit, the players gave Tinubu a gift, which had the bold inscription, “Wazobia Choice 2023”, a sign of endorsing the 2023 presidential aspirant.
However, one of the things that stood out during that visit was the prayer by Taribo West, who is now a pastor.
The ex-Super Eagles defender prayed for the restoration of Nigeria to its rightful place via Tinubu.
Meanwhile, some of the same ex-players had met with Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, who, like Tinubu, has also been pushing for APC presidential ticket ahead of 2023, a few months ago prior to a novelty match between the state executive council team and the combined sets of 1994 and 1996 ex-Super Eagles at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja, the state capital.
Apart from the joint visit, some of the ex-players, Mikel Obi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Jude Ighalo also paid private homage to the governor.
During the visit, former Super Eagle’s captain, Mikel Obi declared his interest to work with Yahaya towards the ‘betterment of Nigeria’ while Ighalo described the governor as a bridge-builder whose leadership style has been a source of hope to the Nigerian youth.
