LAGOS — Nigerian skit maker cum actor, Debo Adebayo, popularly called Mr. Macaroni, has taken to social media to decry the hypocrisy of his colleagues who advocate for a better country yet are quick to collect money and awards from politicians.
In a series of tweets on Friday, Mr. Macaroni expressed shock as some of his colleagues who joined the #EndSars protest have turned around to collect money and awards from the same politicians they criticize on a daily basis.
He tweeted, “Government no good, government this and that… But Government award and money sweet to collect. Haba. Make una dey fear God ooo.
“When some content creators went with a show organizer to see the VP, I said on here and at various TV interviews that they did nothing wrong. They saw it as a chance to speak up and they did. Some of the people wey attack them pass don go collect award from government. E choke.
“Even those wey we gather protest together don go collect their share. Aloota Continua!! Naija 4 Show!! Indeed, all man for himself.”
The content creator urged his colleagues to quit the pretense and stop stabbing Nigerians at the back, noting that he has no intention to set them up to be hated by the masses.
“We have seen this play out time and time again. Everyone has a right to political affiliation. And that is the fact. I only appeal to you people, not to pretend to stand with Nigerians while u stab them at their backs. I rest my case.
“Everybody go dey shout we want better nation. Some people dey back dey collect better money. If you condemn such acts they will say u are setting your colleagues up to be hated by the people. Meanwhile you are in front risking it all. Abeg, make everybody dey their dey,” he wrote.
His tweet is coming few hours after Nollywood actresses, Toyin Abraham and Adebimpe Oyebade made it to Lagos State Government’s list of Top 100 Women and were given awards by the Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-olu.
