ABUJA — The former governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, is gradually edging towards being freed from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) custody.
The former Governor was detained by EFCC shortly after handing over the reins of power to Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo last Thursday.
He was arrested at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos while on his way out of the country to Houston, Texas in the United States.
Vanguard reports that Chief Obiano has been admitted to administrative bail by EFCC but he cannot leave detention until he meets certain conditions slammed on him by the anti-graft agency.
One of the conditions for the former APGA bigwig to regain freedom, even temporarily, is for him to produce two directors on grade level 17 in the Federal Civil service.
Another condition slammed on the Chief, is that the two Federal directors must be landlords in Maitama, Asokoro or Wuse district of Abuja.
Although Obiano’s travel documents might have also been withheld to stop him from fleeing the country until investigation over his tenure is over, the anti-graft agency is yet to disclose whether the documents had been taken away.
