Popular Nigerian singer, Timi Dakolo, has faced backlash on social media after he performed at former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar’s political rally.
Atiku, on Wednesday, officially declared his interest to contest for the office of the President in 2023.
The former VP took to Twitter to share a video of Timi Dakolo performing his popular song, Unity Song at his rally.
The video caused quite a buzz online. It infuriated numerous social media users, who interpreted his performance at the rally to mean that he endorses the former Vice President.
They took to the comment section to slam the renowned singer.
Despite the backlash on social media, Timi Dakolo seems unapologetic for performing at the political rally of Atiku Abubakar.
Responding to his critics, the singer said he is going to sing and ‘collect bread’, adding that people who were pained by that idea should go and sing their own song too.
He wrote, “I will sing and collect bread my guy, if it pains you well well, go sing your own.”
