YOLA — Nurses of the Federal Medical Centre Yola have been applauded for their commitment and dedication to duty in the service to humanity.

The Medical Director of the Centre, Professor Auwal Abubakar who stated this on Tuesday in a message to Maryam Dangtibiya award for April 2022 and Annual award of 2021, described nurses as catalysts in the service to humanity.

Represented by the Head of Clinical Services of the Centre, Doctor Ahmadu Usman Baba, the Medical Director expressed satisfaction with the professional prowess displayed by the nurses in the course of their duties and urged them to maintain the posture of cordial relationships with patients and keep the hospital clean.

In a remark, the Chairman of the occasion, who is also the Chairman Paupers Funds of the FMC Yola, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Iya encouraged the nurses to continue with the good of serving humanity.

He commended the committee members for hard work and commitment in the discharge of their duties and staff for supporting the committee.

He thanked the Medical Director for the foresight in initiating the awards and congratulated the winners.

Earlier, the Chairman Assessment and Evaluation Committee, Doctor Sajo Njidda said professionalism, cleanliness, dressing, and record-keeping as well as the relation with patients are some of the criteria used in assessing the nurses for the awards.

He said the Medical Director set up the committee with a view to ensuring a high standard of cleanliness in the hospital.

Some of the recipients described the awards as encouraging and hope to put in their best for the growth of the hospital.

The monthly and annual awards were initiated by the present Medical Director of the hospital to encourage healthy competition among nurses.

The female medical ward came first in the twenty-twenty-one annual award, while April 2021 monthly award, while Special Care Baby Unit and Gynea wards came second and third respectively.

Highpoints of the event were the presentation of certificates and tokens to winners.
