The General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, has cancelled his planned crusade in Aba, Abia State.
Recall that IPOB in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, on Thursday asked Kumuyi to consider the insecurity in the South East and not to go ahead with the crusade.
Reacting to IPOB’s warning, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had backed Kumuyi and urged IPOB to allow the preacher proceed with his crusade, noting that Kumuyi’s coming will be a blessing to the region.
However, the 80-year-old cleric heeded IPOB’s warning and cancelled the crusade, tagged Jesus Power for Extra-ordinary Breakthrough, scheduled to hold in Aba between 24th and 29th May.
The Chairman of the organising team for the crusade, Pastor James Akpofure, made the announcement in a statement on Saturday, adding that Kumuyi will be praying for ‘God’s divine intervention’ in the South-East region.
“As there are currently some security challenges at the intended alpha location (Aba, Abia State, Nigeria), the Global Crusade Convener, Pastor (Dr) W.F. Kumuyi commiserates with our people in Abia State and will be praying along for God’s Divine Intervention,” Akpofure’s statement read.
A member of the crusade’s organising committee also corroborated the development in a telephone conversation with The PUNCH.
The PUNCH reports that the official said a new venue would be announced for the crusade.
