NSUKKA, (Enugu) — Most vehicular movements in the South East on Mondays beat the sit-at-home order by moving early hours of the morning; however, luck ran out on a Dangote truck laden with cement which was intercepted at Beach Junction, by the second gate of the University of Nigeria in Nsukka Local Government Area at about 5:30am.
The truck was set ablaze and the driver was thoroughly beaten by unidentified persons suspected to be unknown gunmen enforcing the sit-at-home order.
Although no life was lost, the tank region of the truck was burnt. But sympathizers who gathered at the scene of the event joined hands to douse the raging flames so as to save the cement worth millions of naira.
An eyewitness account stated that the police personnel that came to the scene whisked away from a young man for recording the video of the burning truck with his phone.
More details later as all efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe proved abortive.
