The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, says he knows a name that could change Nigeria for good.
He said this on his Facebook page, attaching a photo of himself with an image with the written word, Jesus.
“I know a name that can change the current state of Nigeria for Good,” he captioned the pictures.
Adeboye made the post in reaction to gospel singer, Nathaniel Bassey’s Jesus viral trend.
Bassey created a huge wave on social media on Tuesday when he shared a picture on social media with the inscription ‘JESUS’, asking his 3.9 million followers on Instagram and Twitter to make it their profile picture and upload on their social media status by noon.
“Can we make this picture our profile picture and tweet at 12 noon? Let’s release this precious ointment over our land and nation. JESUS.
3 …..thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth…” Songs of Solomon 1:3 https://t.co/8Qu8ZOHm8Z
Christians from across Nigeria and other parts of the world have joined the viral trend by using the picture with the name of Jesus as their display picture and status across all social media platforms, as instructed by the gospel singer.
According to Bassey, the reason behind the post is for the release of the fragrance of God all over Nigeria, and other nations of the earth.
Meanwhile, Nigerian gay activist, Bisi Alimi has mocked the gospel singer and other Christians for the viral trend on social media, referring to them as stupid and moronic.
“When your 24hrs Jesus post disappears, your sorrow, anguish, and Buhari will be waiting for you. It’s like the case of a drunk who drinks to avoid problem, when you get sober, the problem will be waiting to slap you harder. Awon alainiroun…oponun ode,” he tweeted.
“If Jesus knows you people, he would have turned your water into wine. How can people be this stupid, and moronic? How?”
