The National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) has urged youths to wake up from their political slumber and get ready to elect youth-oriented and youth-focused leadership in the 2023 general elections.

This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday by NANS Zone F (South-East) coordinator, Moses Ibeabuchi.

“As we all know, 2023 is by the corner and it is an important year for all Nigerians. The year in which our desires for a paradigm shift from the retrogressive status quo we have found ourselves in for a couple of dispensations now, to a new Nigeria full of unlimited possibilities and hope shall materialise,” stated the NANS coordinator.

“Dear Nigerian youths and students, it is in this realisation and the reality that stares at us that I write to advise and as well plead with each of you to wake up from your sleep and slumber, and do what is right.”

Ibeabuchi, who appealed to Nigerian youths to get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the 2023 general elections,  said the aggregate voting right of the youths through the PVC remained the power and right they have in their resolve to change the country for good.

“The election is apparently by the corner, and it is in our hands to make the difference and choose a leader who we truly believe would change the course of things and reposition our country Nigeria for good,” he added.

Describing the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as “sad and unimaginable”, the NANS leader noted that 2023 is another opportunity for Nigerian youths and students to “elect a new leader who shall steer our affairs as a people.”
