To enhance knowledge and implementation of the Violence against Persons Prohibition, VAPP law, and Gender Equally Opportunity, GEO law in Plateau State, the Women Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative, WRAPA, has organized a two-day workshop in that regard.

Mohamed Maifada, the Senior Programme Officer, WRAPA noted that the VAPP law by the Plateau State government was timely, hence the need to enhance its knowledge and implementation.

On her part, the Commissioner for  Women Affairs and Social Development, Plateau State, Mrs. Rebecca Sambo, represented by the Director of Planning Research and Statistics in the Ministry, Mr. Sunday Dombin, said the ministry had trained gender vocal persons in the 17 LGAs of Plateau state to advocate against gender-based violence.

Also speaking, the State Project Coordinator, WRAPA, Mrs. Jumai Madaki, explained that the support of the process requires the contribution of non-state and state actors to fast-track understanding and assimilation of the laws.

Lyop Rwang, a Consultant, and the Deputy Director in the Ministry of Justice Plateau State noted that the objective of the training was to create knowledge on issues of human and Woman rights, and a strategic advocacy plan for effective implementation of the laws.
