Veteran Nollywood actor, Kenneth Okonkwo, has dumped the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Okonkwo disclosed this in his letter of resignation shared on his Instagram page on Monday, citing the decision of the ruling party to field a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket for the 2023 elections as the reason for his resignation.

He added that he resigned his membership in the interest of equity, justice, fairness and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians.

Part of the letter read, “Being the convener of the Campaign for Equity and Justice in Nigeria, and as a former member of APC Presidential Campaign Council, which resisted same religion presidential ticket in the past, I can no longer continue to lend my name to these abnormalities in the interest of mutual peaceful co-existence, integration, and progress of our beloved country, Nigeria.

“I, therefore, resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress to enable me to focus on building the Nigeria of our dream with the motto: Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress.”

Sharing the resignation letter on Instagram, he wrote the caption, “I just resigned my membership of the All Progressives Congress in the interest of equity, justice, fairness and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians.

“May God deliver Nigeria from the hands of power grabbers who elevate the quest for power above the quest for purpose. God bless you and Barka da Sallah to our Muslim brothers.”
