In compliance with the Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba nationwide ban on the use of SPY number plates, the Enugu State Command has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Heads of all Tactical/Operational Units of the Command, to give full effect to the directive, by confiscating all SPY Number Plates currently in use in the State.

Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Abubakar Lawal fdc, issued this command via the state police command bulletin signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, dated 14th July, 2022.

The Ban the CP stated is solely aimed at strengthening security in the State and the nation at large and all affected member of the public called to revert back to their original registered number plates;

“All Police Officers and those of other Security Agencies attached to VIPs who use the SPY Number Plates in the State are to ensure prompt compliance with the directive or otherwise risk being arrested for violation of the order,” the CP orders.

He further cautions enforcing Police Operatives against disrespect of citizens’ rights while soliciting cooperation of all and sundry in the interest of the good of the nation.

“Ensure that Police Operatives carrying out the enforcement duty do so with utmost sense of diligence and professionalism, devoid of all forms of disrespect for the rights of citizens,” the Commissioner charges the Supervisory Officers.

“The X-Squad Section of the Command is to monitor the enforcement process and ensure that the Operatives completely comply with the letter and spirit of the directive.”

The Spy Police vehicle plate number was legitimately designed to give security privileges to legitimate businesses in Nigeria in their day to day activities in the movement of staff, equipment and VIPs.
