The Mbuji community in Eha Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, Enugu State, Nigeria has accused the security officers of abandoning them to their fate as the community in recent times have been invaded and persons abducted with no reprisal attack or response from security agents.

Chijioke Ogbodo, spokesman of the community said this while confirming an attack on the community by suspected herdsmen.

He stated that 15 residents were abducted on Monday and security agents deployed to that area have not responded to their distress call.

“We received the information on the attack this morning; we called all the security agents deployed to Eha-Amufu. Unfortunately, they didn’t respond to our distress calls. This is our tragedy,” he added.

However, an eye witness account revealed that the victims were reportedly kidnapped around 7am on Monday on Mgbuji-Agu Road, Mgbuji town, while they were going to their farms.

Onyekachi Odo speaking to Punch Metro narrates the incidence, “Some of the villagers, who were going to their farms in tricycles, were intercepted by the gun-wielding terrorists while some victims were picked on their farms; the terrorists were numbering over 20.”

Odo also cried out on the constant attack and abduction in the community by terrorists and the lackadaisical attitude of the security agents in response to their woes.

“Since they started attacking our community, neither the police nor the military has arrested one of the terrorists”.
