The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have alerted five states, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as targeted places for the coordinated attacks by the terrorists.

The states in the North-West, North Central and South West include Lagos, Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna and the Kogi States as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This is contained in a leaked memo dated July 25, signed by the Deputy Commandant General, Operations, D.D. Mungadi addressed all commands of the NSCDC in the listed states and FCT.

The NSCDC said it had received credible intelligence that Boko Haram and Islamic State for West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists had mobilised their fighters and deployed high calibre weapons like anti-aircraft guns, and general purpose machine guns, among others, to attack Katsina State.

The memo read: “Consequently, the Commandant-General has directed you to scale up deployment in all strategic places, including schools, worship centres and critical national assets in your respective states, to checkmate any possible threats by these criminal elements. Please treat it as urgent”.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the NSCDC, Shola Odumosu, denied that the leaked report did not emanate from Corps.

“There’s no any memo in that regard,” he said.

In the meantime, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, on Tuesday has asked Abuja residents to cooperate with his officers in the Intelligence Bureau to fortify the FCT against terrorists.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force spokesperson, in a statement, said the IGP said the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) had been charged to collaborate with residents to ward off the adversaries threatening to bring down the country.

“The IGP has ordered for additional deployment of assets to Strategic areas of the FCT while the Force Intelligence Bureau has been charged on robust Intelligence gathering and information sharing amongst other agencies”.
