The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, has announced Thursday, 20 October 2022 for the launch of its digital certificate platform for people to access, confirm, share and recover their lost WAEC certificates.

The Acting Head, of Public Relations, WAEC Nigeria, Moyosola Adesina, in a statement, explained that the mobile and web-based application was designed specifically for candidates, individuals, institutions, and organisations to access, share, request, confirm certificates and recover forgotten WAEC candidates’ examination numbers.

“The digital platform creates an easier, instant, and safer mode of accessing certificates by stakeholders. With this digital platform, users will be able to recover burnt, lost, and damaged certificates,” Adesina said.

The Council noted that the digital certificate platform would, among other things, eliminate the chances of fraud during the confirmation of certificates by institutions and organizations, and the bureaucratic bottlenecks associated with the manual procedures of certificate issuance and collection.

In a tweet announcing the launch of the innovation, WAEC said the platform will cover results from 1999 till date.

When launched, the platform can be accessed via the WAEC digital certificate website. Similarly, the mobile application can be downloaded on android and iOS app stores.
