The Adamawa State House of Assembly has suspended two members of the Assembly for defecting from Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for three months.

The affected members are Simon Isa (Song constituency) and Song and Hamman Tukur Yettisuri (Jada/Mbulo constituency).

The Speaker, Alhaji Aminu Iya Abbas, announced the suspension of the lawmakers for three months pending further action from the two lawmakers.

Decision to suspend the duo followed a constitutional matter raised by the Deputy Speaker, of the house Mr. Pwamwakeno Mackondo (Numan constituency) on their defection.

According to Mackondo, the two legislators were elected on the platform of PDP but cross-carpeted to another political party, noting that their seats should be declared vacant based on the provision of the constitution.

He said their names appeared as candidates for Fufore/Song and Mayo Belwa, Jada, Ganye and Toungo Federal Constituencies under NNPP.

The suspension of the two lawmakers brings to three members who were victims of defection from PDP to other political parties, but the Members were silent on the defection of members representing Mubi South who defected from APC to PDP.
