Twitter has announced plans to charge $240 (N192,000) yearly for verification (blue tick).
This is coming a few days after Elon Musk sealed the $44 billion Twitter acquisition deal and took over the ownership of the company.
According to Daily Mail, Musk wants to launch a pay-for-play verification system in which verified users are charged $20 per month.
It was gathered that Musk had communicated the project to employees of the micro-blogging platform on 30 October.
He also gave them until Monday, 7 November 2022 to launch the paid verification or they’ll be fired.
After being launched, existing verified users would have 90 days to subscribe to the paid verification package or lose their verification badge.
