ENUGU — Justice Nkonye Evelyn Maha of the Federal High Court Abuja on Wednesday disqualified Chijioke Edeoga the Enugu state Labour Party gubernatorial candidate and ordered the party to organize fresh primaries within 14 days.
The contention was over the authentic candidate for the party as Chief Everest Nnaji, popularly referred to as Odengene alleged that he was unlawfully skewed out of the process.
Nnaji filed a suit at the Abuja High court to determine if his exclusion was lawful or not.
Chijioke Edeoga of Isi-Uzo constituency was a former Commissioner for Environment in Enugu. He polled 81 votes and was declared the winner of the LP primary election at Golf Estate, Enugu.
Recall that Edeoga had contested the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but lost to Peter Mbah; he then left PDP to join LP.
