The federal government last Friday approved the implementation of a 14-working-day paternity leave for federal civil servants.

This information was disclosed in a memo by Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head, Civil Service of the Federation, on Monday.

“Government has also approved paternity Leave for serving male officers whose spouse delivers a baby,” the memo read partly.

“The period of the leave shall be 14 working days. The leave shall not be more than once in two years, and for a maximum of four children.

“Where the family of a male officer adopts a child under four months old, the officer will similarly enjoy paternity Leave for a period of 14 working days.”

Yemi-Esan explained that the 14-day paternity leave was to help fathers bond with their children and relieve new mothers of the enormous responsibility of taking care of the child alone.

She said the requests for such leave must be accompanied by the expected date of delivery report of the officer’s wife or proof of the adoption of the child by the relevant government bodies. Others are wearing tattered jeans, micro/mini dresses, crop tops/jump tops, off-shoulder clothes, backless clothes, transparent wear, and bum shorts, as well as nose, mouth, eye rings, and extra earrings.

Except for hair braiding and spangled hairstyles for male students which attract two-semester suspension, other forms of indecent dressing attract suspension for one semester.

The school management urged students to abide by the ‘code of conduct’ because certificates would only be awarded to students who are ‘found worthy in both academic pursuits and good character.’
