…OGB Recently tops list of content creators
YouTube on Thursday released its end-of-year top ten music videos for 2022 and the visuals for Mavin’s all-star single, ‘Overdose’, was the top spot.
‘Overdose’ was followed by Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ and ‘Buga’ by Kizz Daniel and Tekno, and Asake’s ‘Sungba’ remix featuring Burna Boy.
Others include Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last’, Skiibii’s ‘Baddest Boy’ remix featuring Davido, Kizz Daniel’s ‘Buga (lo lo lo)’, Fireboy’s ‘Bandana’ featuring Asake and Asake’s ‘Peace Be Unto You’.
The YouTube end-of-year list also highlighted top content creators, videos, shorts and ,breakout creators in Nigeria.
On the top ten Nigerian content creators, Michael Charles, better known as OGB Recent, sits at number one.
Also making this list are Oga Sabinus (Emmanuel Ejekwu), Broda Shaggi (Samuel Perry), Brain Jotter (Chukwuebuka Amuzie) and House of Ajebo, a cartoon comedy brand powered by Erem Nehemiah, better known as Ajebo.
Others are Taaoma (Maryam Apaokagiare), Kiekie (Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori) and Officer Woos (Jubril Gbadamosi).
For the selection of the top trending videos on YouTube for 2022, the video streaming platform deployed a range of factors, beyond just viewership. Viewers’ engagement through likes, shares, and comments was also considered.
According to the Google-owned platform, the end-of-year top ten lists give a “glimpse into what people in Nigeria were most curious about”, adding that it is “reflective of the most important moments to unfold in 2022 on and offline.”
