To boost the revenue base of the state, the Adamawa State Government is to construct an International cattle market in Mubi, a commercial hub center in the state.

Mubi town is situated at a border with the Cameroon republic and is the second largest city in Adamawa after Yola, the state capital.

The market when completed will have Auction Grounds, Veterinary clinics, dispensaries, hotels, Offices, Water and Power Infrastructure, drainage, Waste Disposal, Parking, Loading, and Off-loading Bay among many other facilities.

At the groundbreaking ceremony at Bula Dega community in the Mubi South Local Government area on Tuesday, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the market, when completed, will be the biggest and most modern cattle market in Africa.

“The project will serve as a hub of Animal Commerce for the Northeast and the adjoining Countries of Cameroon Republic, Chad, and Niger Republic, thereby enhancing foreign and local interaction and integration.

“When the Mubi International Cattle Market is completed, the project would promote economic development, generate high income and drive revenue generation,” he said.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman Joint Association of Cattle Breeders in Mubi, Alhaji Usman Dan Mai Nagge, and the Chairman of Pulaku Jonde Jam, Ardo Muktar Adamu said their associations are ready to support the government in building the international cattle market.
