To boost agribusiness, the Adamawa State Executive Council has approved has over N61 million naira variation for the supply and installation of thirty metric tons per hour capacity fertilizer blending plant in Damare, Girei Local Government Area of the state.

Recall that, the resuscitation of the Fertilizer Blending Plant was initially put the  cost at over N177 million.

Dr Umar Garba Pella, State Commissioner of Information and Strategy disclosed this Wednesday while briefing newsmen after the council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the Government House Yola.

He said the approval was due to high exchange rate and rise in the cost of materials among others which now places the total contract sum at over N239 million naira.

The commissioner also said the council has also approved five hundred million naira as counterpart funding for the takeoff and implementation of Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes ACReSAL in Adamawa.

He explained that the project is a World Bank assisted Programme aimed at providing sustainable landscape management practices in targeted watersheds in northern Nigeria as adopted by the nineteen northern states governors and will last for six years.

Dr Garba Pella said Adamawa is putting down the money to access $30 million dollars for the state, which will go a long way in addressing environmental degradation and combating erosion to address the effects of desertification.

According to him, the Council approved the procurement of one brand new armoured Toyota Land Cruiser 2021 model and one brand new Toyota Land Cruiser as back up vehicles for the office of the Governor.

“The Governor, since assumption of office has been using his personal car in the convoy, sacrificing for the benefit of the state, the new vehicles will cost N308 million and will be supply by A-S Galadima Global Concept,” he said.

The Council, he added, also ratified the approval of over one hundred and two million naira as advance payment for the studies of five mineral types in Adamawa to the Consultant earlier engaged this year.

Dr Pella added that the council also approved thirty-three K-V-I-T-C line networks each to Opalo, Shemun, Zegun and Hokki villages in Lamurde Local Government Area at over two hundred and forty-three million nairas.

He explained that the communities will be reconnected to the National grid to enable the inhabitants to enjoy electricity supply, due to the destruction of electricity lines caused by a storm sometime within the year.
