The speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Aminu Iya Abbas has observed that the establishment of non-governmental organizations would help address some needs of the populace.

Alhaji Abbas made the observation Saturday at the inauguration of new Executive members of the As-Salihat Support Foundation, which was held at Al-Baitul Mukarram Islamic Education Centre, Hong.

The foundation was established to help widows, the vulnerable, the needy, and People Living with Disabilities.

The Speaker stated that nowadays the government alone cannot be able to meet the competitive demands of people due to lean resources.

Alhaji Abbas explained that the complementary efforts of NGOs will bridge the gap in meeting the needs of people which will ameliorate the suffering people.

He assured me to render his support for the foundation to accomplish its task.

In his speech, the chairman of the occasion, Yerima Abdullahi Santuraki reminded the people that it is the responsibility of all and sundry to uplift the status of vulnerable, orphans, widows, and other needy in society, by contributing in any g to the charitable organization.

He identified insurgency, racial, tribal, civil, ethnic, and international wars as well as violent conflicts that made people needy in society.

In his inaugural speech, the Guest Speaker who is also the Vice Chairman Board of Trustees of the Foundation, Doctor Bashir Imam Aliyu spoke extensively on the need for people to assist the vulnerable and the needy in society.

He reminded the people of immense rewards for those who used their wealth towards assisting the needy and vulnerable.

Doctor Bashir assured that monies and other items collected would be channel to the targeted beneficiaries.

Also speaking, the chairman of the foundation, Barrister Yunusa Yerima Isa while calling on the people to imbibe the spirit of their forefathers of sharing orphans among the family members of a deceased person, said the foundation will embark on some laudable projects that touch the lives of common people.

In their goodwill messages, Professor Arabi A. Suleiman and Doctor Aliyu Idi Hong enjoined people to support the foundation to enable it achieve its set objectives.

In his message, the District Head of Hong and Dan Maliki Adamawa, Alhaji Umar Mahmoud Babangida represented by Yaduma Hong Doctor Habu Salisu Magaji declared the traditional institution support towards the realization of the goals of the foundation.

Responding on behalf of those inaugurated, the President, Mallam Adamu Mohammed Abdullahi solicited support and prayers to enable them to succeed in the task ahead of them.

Those inaugurated are Mallam  Adamu Mohammed Abdullahi as president, Yerima Hayatu Mamman as Vice President, Mallam Usman Umar Shall as General Secretary, Mallam Mohammed Yahaya, Assistant Secretary, Hajiya Jamila Maigari Treasurer, and Alhaji Yaya Abdulkadir Midila Financial Secretary.

Others are Mallam Husseini Isa Mamman Auditor, Barrister Kabiru S.Y Hamid legal adviser, and Mallam Ilyas Garba Dakku, Public Relations Officer.

The oath of office was administered by Barisster Abdulwahab H. Aliyu.
