Precious Okoye, a 27-year-old graduate of Botany from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has won the sixth edition of the Miss Africa beauty pageant.
The event which was held on 27 December 2022 saw dignitaries from all walks of life across Africa and beyond storm Calabar, the Cross River State capital, witness the crowning of a new beauty queen in Africa.


Okoye beat 19 other contestants from the length and breadth of Africa to the coveted crown.
The former Miss Polo Nigeria is the first Nigerian to wear the crown.
In her remarks, Okoye, who could not contain her joy on Tuesday when she was announced the winner, expressed overwhelming gratitude to Nigerians, her family, supporters, fellow contestants and organisers of the Miss Africa beauty pageant for playing a vital role in making her dreams come true.
Poelano Mothisi from Lesotho emerged as the first runner-up and Tina Haimbala from Namibia was the second runner-up.
