The All Progressive Congress, APC, Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised to develop the South East’s mineral resources deposit for economic recovery.

Tinubu made this promise on Wednesday during the APC Presidential campaign rally in Enugu state held at the Michael Okpara Square.

He advised that rebuilding the nation is our responsibility and called on the southeasterners to believe and work with him not wait for foreign intervention.

“Don’t wait for the white man to do this job for us. We are brilliant enough, we are great thinkers, we can fabricate, we can develop and we can mold; we can build engines and we can turn our coal into a lucrative industry.”

Harping on the coal deposit in Enugu, Tinubu propose that his administration will harness the mineral resource that Britain and America he said use for the turbines and generate electricity.

“Be bold Nigeria. Wake up, Africa. Let us use what we have to develop our country. Let us turn our coal into money. Let us turn our gas into money,” he said.

Bragging about the second Niger Bridge, the APC presidential candidate said, “Today, APC has fulfilled what PDP could not do in 16 years for the southeast.”

He further picked on Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate and the former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo;

He said, “For 16 years they (PDP) didn’t do anything for the southeast. They misappropriated the monies meant for projects and accused themselves. You know whom I am talking about- Obasanjo and Atiku. That’s the reason for their unending quarrels.”

David Umahi, Governor of Ebonyi state in his speech expressed satisfaction with the crowd of supporters who came out for the rally. Umahi however urged the APC leaders to work harder to win to be bold in approaching Tinubu to help the region once he wins the election.

“We are not looking for 60%, the least number of votes we desire from this election is 90%,” Umahi said.

However, earlier, the APC gubernatorial candidate in Enugu state, Chief Uche Nnaji said they were determined to get more than 30% votes for the APC Presidential candidate in Enugu state; “That’s the promise I am giving Asiwaju Tinubu and Governor Hope Uzodimma.”

Nnaji then described APC Enugu to be on a rescue mission, “We are on a rescue mission which will lead Enugu out of political and economic quagmire the state has been entangled in over the years.”

Nnaji further narrated the party’s ordeal in the state, “APC Enugu has gone through hell in Enugu state. Since 2014, the new APC is going to the polls for the first time; the old APC was always undermined.”

Refuting the rumor-going round the state, Nnaji asserted that the crowd present at the rally is not rented;

“The crowd you are seeing here is not a rented crowd. The people you are seeing here are members of APC in the state. If the people here are 200,000, they are APC registered members and have their permanent voter card.”

The rally attracted other dignitaries such as former Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Azubuike Onyeabor Ihejirika (rtd), Senators Godswill Akpabio, Andy Uba, former Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiohmole, Dimeji Bankole, Chief Emma Eneukwu, and Chief Gbazue Agu Nweke Gbazue Agu (GNG).
