Pastor Uche Aigbe of House on the Rock, Abuja, who mounted the pulpit during Sunday’s church service carrying an AK-47 rifle is being investigated by the Nigeria Police Force.
In a tweet on Monday a few hours after the news went viral on social media, the force public relations officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said, “We have commenced investigation into this. The PPRO FCT will make an official statement as soon as possible.”
In a follow up tweet, he said pastor Aigbe has been invited by the Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory.
“We have requested the video of the service to hear what the pastor was saying. How did he get the gun, maybe from a security agent. He has been invited by the CP FCT. IGP has ordered the CP FCT to handle it and revert so that Nigerians will know what transpired. Thanks,” he wrote.
A police source told Daily Trust that the pastor arrived at the Guzape office of the anti-car theft of FCT police command on Monday morning in company of the police officer whom he collected the rifle he mounted the pulpit with, identified as Inspector Musa Audu.
The West African Pilot News gathered that the church had a programme on Sunday themed, “Guard Your Faith”.
