The Imo state traditional council honoured President Muhammadu Buhari with a chieftaincy title in Owerri yesterday.

The chairman of the traditional rulers’ council, Eze Imo, Dr Emmanuel Okeke, supported by other monarchs in the state, conferred the ‘Nwanne di na mba’ (a relation in another land) title on the president.

President Buhari was in the state to campaign for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

The president thanked the traditional council for the recognition, assuring that he will continue to demonstrate his love for the southeast and its citizens.

“I thank you so much for this honour that I will continue to remember for the rest of my life. Thank you for getting all the senior citizens to receive us,” he said.

After the conferment of the title, the president commissioned the 11 km MCC/Uratta Road, with 5.5 dual carriage traversing several communities, low-cost housing, and federal and state estates, among other projects by Governor Hope Uzodimma.
