The former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has told the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu to postpone the governorship and House of Assembly elections taking place in March 11th pending when the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the server will start working to ensure electronic transmission of election results

The PDP chieftain spoke on Arise TV on Thursday and carpeted INEC for the poor conduct of the presidential elections, which he said cannot be accepted by Nigerians.

George said, “Let me advise Prof. Yakubu concerning the next election, that is the governorship and the House of Assembly elections, if he finds out that the BVAS and the servers are not going to work, let him stop the election and let us face what is just and what is right.

“Let him postpone the election until he can fix them, so that the will of the people will prevail. We cannot continue in this darkness that doesn’t make any sense.

He added, “You started and people are manipulating the results, is that what you are hailing? We are going into darkness, and people are clapping. I am ashamed to be a Nigerian. Can’t we be just, fair, equitable and have the fear of God.

While congratulating Nigerians for remaining calm in the face of provocation, George warned that the silence doesn’t mean that Nigerians are fools.

He said, “I want to congratulate Nigerians for being calm because other nations would have resulted in violence and total disregard to the rule of law. I thank our people for doing it calmly but don’t take the graveyard silence to mean that we are fools. We are definitely not fools.

“The result is not acceptable. We are building our nation on a faulty foundation. The people wanted a change, they voted for a change and they have manipulated the results all over. We have the results.

He added, “Prof. Yakubu tell us the man that is in charge of your ICT, tell us the man that is in charge of your data, and if you cannot sack him, the government should sack you.”

Reacting to the reconciliatory moves by Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate and the president-elect in the 2023 presidential election, reaching out to the other presidential candidates, He said, “When you talk about moves for reconciliation, the majority of Nigerians are ashamed.

“The chairman of INEC promised the whole world that   we were going to have a new beginning. Mr. President signed the new electoral act and encouraged Nigerians that we would be going the way of the civilized world. From the polling units results would be transmitted to the server.

“I was shocked that on that very day he had the temerity to tell us that they were hitches in technology. It is absolutely shambolic and disgraceful. It is not acceptable,” George added.
