Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, the former Governor of Anambra State, has warned that there will be doom if Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections and the president – elect in the just concluded presidential election is sworn in as Nigeria’s president, even as he insists that the former Lagos State Governor will not be sworn.

The former Anambra State Governor spoke on Arise TV on Thursday, where he maintained that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by its conduct and subsequent announcement of Tinubu as a winner in that election was working to end Nigeria as a nation, and he appealed to elders, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former governors and other leaders to look into the problems in the country and ensure that Nigeria remains a united country.

Ezeife said, “The presidential election revealed so many things and I thank God for that. I thank all the foreign powers who commented on the election and condemned the INEC. I thank Nigerians for the way they treated the Labour Party. I thank Nigerians for the voting pattern even though the result released by INEC is fraudulent.

“We saw how the Labour Party won in Lagos and other states across the country. It tells that the future for Nigeria is brighter by far. I don’t think that Tinubu, my friend, and brother will be sworn in as president of Nigeria, if it happens it will spell doom for Nigeria.

He added, “This election opened the eyes of everybody. We thank the Hausa, we thank the Yoruba, and we thank every group in Nigeria for the openness. The message is that we are one Nigeria, irrespective of the manipulations.

“Anybody that knows about the controversies surrounding the Muslim-Muslim ticket, knows that that declaration by INEC would not stand.

“I will go and re-negotiate with my people, the youths of the South-East, and open their eyes to see that this thought of being rejected doesn’t exist. We have Biafra inside Nigeria.

The former Governor said, “With the election conducted and the result announced, some people are calling for cancellation, I don’t think that it is the only solution. With the huge amount of money sent in the conduct of the election. We should go back to the documents and use the result that we have there to announce the winner of the election.

“I believe that this election has given a lot of hope for one Nigeria. If we don’t abandon conscienceless, money bag politics, bullion van politics, the country is gone. There is nobody who will look at the outcome of this election, not from the INEC point of view that will change his mind about the future of this country,” Ezeife said.

Speaking on the way forward, Ezeife, called for a meeting of the elders with persons like former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former governors, Ayo Adebanjo of Afenifere, Edwin Clark of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) to sit down and proffer solution to the problems in the country.

He urged the youths to remain calm, pointing out that if after the elders must have met and nothing positive comes out of it, that the youths can decide to take back their country.

He added, ‘My reading of this election is that Nigerians are one, and that a new Nigeria is possible. It gives me hope in the new Nigeria and not in the conscienceless bullion van politics of the past. If you look at the voting, I thank God for bringing Peter Obi. It is not a Peter Obi affair, or Tinbu affair, no, it is about Nigeria. I thank God for answering us with a resounding, “yes” to a movement.

“Peter Obi did his best no matter what anybody else thinks. It was a success for one Nigeria and that success was not for my friend and brother Tinubu to become the president of Nigeria, it will not happen,” Ezife said.
