The Cross River State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has adopted Brian Odey of the Labour Party (LP) for the March 11 House of Assembly election.

Odey is the candidate of the LP seeking to represent the Yala 1 constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly.

Speaking with journalists on Monday, Alphonsus Eba, the state chairman of APC disclosed that the party’s decision followed the Supreme Court’s judgment nullifying the candidacy of Regina Anyogo, who was hitherto the candidate of the APC, for the seat.

He said the alliance between the two parties in the state was to pave the way for the emergence of Sen. Bassey Otu, the governorship candidate of the APC, as the governor of Cross River state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quoted Eba as saying, “As a party, we are adopting the candidate of the Labour Party, Brian Odey for the Yala 1 constituency election.

“We are in this alliance because we want supporters of the Labour Party to also support the candidate of the APC in the governorship election.”

NAN reports that Odey thanked the APC leadership in the state for endorsing him ahead of the polls and assured that he would lead his supporters to vote for the governorship candidate of the APC this Saturday.
