The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested seven persons aged between 16-18 years from Kodomun village, Demsa local government area of the state for allegedly Gang raping a 15 year old of the same village.
This is contained in a Press statement signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, and made available to newsmen in Yola, the Adamawa state capital.
The suspects according to the statement include Ephraim Emmanuel 17 years, Madapwa Fidelis 17 years, Paka Albert 16 years, Harmony Manade 18 years, Napwanwa Nahim Edmanth 16 years and Manbiah Ojes 16 years.
The suspects were said to have lured their victim into the House of the first Suspect and forcefully had Carnal knowledge of her without her consent on 4/3/2023 at about 2100hrs.
The statement reads in part: “The incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Demsa by a very good Samaritan and a Critical Stakeholder in Policing.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the Suspects took advantage of the Victim after honoring the invitation from the first suspect whom she happened to be a Girlfriend too. Unfortunately, she was subdued and forced to submit sexually to all of the Seven Suspects.
Nguroje said the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Afolabi Babatola, who frowned over the incident, directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to immediately take over the investigation and ensure diligent prosecution.
CP Babatola advised members of the public particularly parents to be watchful of their children especially the girl child against criminal-minded elements who are roaming about in their communities.
He assures the Adamawa State Government and the general public of the Command’s unrelenting effort to end all forms of Gender Based Violence, saying perpetrators found wanting will be prosecuted without delay.
