Following the outcome of the presidential election held on 25th February 2023, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded the resignation of the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu for allegedly dashed the hope of millions of Nigerians.

Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary of the party at a news conference at the party’s headquarters in Abuja Friday, said the demand became necessary following the violation of the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022, manipulation and alteration of election results.

Ologunagba called continues to stay in office by Prof Yakubu a “vexatious, injurious to the integrity of the electoral commission and an unpardonable assault to the credibility of our electoral process, the sensibility of Nigerians and the international community.”

It, therefore, called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to open an investigation into allegations leveled against some officials of INEC who allegedly compromised their official duties and manipulated the electoral process.
