The Labour Party (LP) has appointed veteran Nollywood actress, Hilda Dokubo as the chairman of its three-man steering committee in Rivers state.
Barrister Julius Abure, national chairman of the LP, announced the appointment in a letter addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday.
The appointment came after the Dienye Pepple-led executive got dissolved earlier in the week following allegations of anti-party activities.
Pepple had, in a press release, declared support for Siminalaye Fubara, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers state. In reaction, the national working committee of the LP had dissolved his executive council.
Dokubo will be assisted by Pastor Philip Loveday (secretary) and Mr Gogo Wellington (publicity secretary).
The letter stipulated that the new committee would serve for a period of one month.
