The Governorship and State Elections were generally peaceful across Adamawa State under tight security, there was an impressive turnout of voters in some polling units while others recorded low turnout.

Voting commenced on time due to the earlier arrival of election materials and INEC ad-hoc staff as some voters arrived at polling units as early as 7:am.

People also complied with the restriction of vehicular movement as directed by security agencies throughout the elections.

There were no complaints of malfunctioning of BVAS as was the case during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The two main contenders in the Governorship race Senator Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru Binani of All Progressives Congress APC and Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of People’s Democratic Party PDP also cast their votes in their various polling units.

Senator Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru Binani who cast her vote at Korea Model Primaries School, Mbamoi Ward in Yola South local government area of the state applauded INEC for the timely arrival of election materials and the elaborate security arrangement.

She expressed delight with the turnout as overwhelming and prayed for the peaceful conduct of the election that would yield a credible and acceptable result.

Also, Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of the People’s Democratic Party PDP, who cast his vote in the Kirchinga ward of the Madagali local government area expressed satisfaction with the processes of the election.

He, however, called on the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to adhere to the electoral guide in the conduct, transmission, collation, and announcement of the election results.
