Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Johnson Kokumo, 13 other senior officers have pulled-off from the police force  after 35 years in service.

The officers and the current Inspector-General of police, IGP Usman Baba, were the last set of the first graduate of police officers from the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano, Course 1/88, to retire.

The POLAC pioneers, who participated in the pull out parade at the police College, Ikeja were AIG Isaac Akinmoyede, AIG Olatunji Akingbola, AIG Andrew Amengheme, AIG Amaechi Elumelu and AIG Ngozi Onadeko. Others are AIG Eboka Friday, AIG Adesina Soyemi, AIG Ashafa Adekunle, AIG Edward Egbuka, AIG Olawale Olokode, AIG Abutu Yaro, CP Adetokunbo Owolabi and CP Selem Amachree.

The POLAC pioneers were among some 844 Nigerian police officers who had serviced for 35 years and retired from the force on Wednesday.

The IGP, Usman Baba, represented by DIG Olayinka Adeleke at the ceremony, congratulated the retirees and their families for working up to the statutory service year.

While commending and celebrating the officers for their meritorious services, Baba said that their wealth of experience will be highly missed, noting that they existed in the service when the nation needed them most.

He said, “Your pull-out from service is coming at a time your experiences are needed for the growth and development of the nation.”

One of the retirees, DIG Johnson Kokumo, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, thanked God for keeping them throughout the 35 years in service.

Kokumo stated that 198 of them were admitted into the institution to be trained as police officers, stressing that 178 of them completed the training, while 15 of them served up to 35 years in service.

He said that some of their mates have retired before their full time, while some died before their time.

The DIG commended their spouses, family members, and other colleagues still in service for their support and collaborations to make their service year hitch free.
