Protesters handing around Independent National Electoral Commission Enugu headquarters may not be dispersing soon as their spokespersons has vowed not to leave the streets until their principals are declared winners in the just concluded gubernatorial election.

In what seemed like a flex of muscle, supporters of both the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party since Monday occupy the roads closest to the INEC headquarters;

While the PDP with their canopies, food and water mount guard at WAEC bus stop Independence Layout, LP Supporters occupy the Agric bank bus stop axis in between INEC office and The Cathedral of the Good Shepherd Anglican Communion.

Speaking to newsmen, the coordinator of the Peoples Democratic Party’s supporters USA Igwesi hints that they will not disperse until Peter Mbah, the PDP gubernatorial candidate is declared winner.

Igwesi alleged that INEC is usurping the duties of the Election Tribunal and should conclude their part of the assignment by declaring Mbah winner of the 2023 gubernatorial election in Enugu.

On the other side of the divide, Labour Party supporter’s coordinator Barrister Agbo Casmir also claims that Barrister Chijioke Edeoga won the election and should be declared winner.

“We will disperse only when declared winner; we do not want PDP to manipulate the outcome of the election,” Agbo reiterates.

“We won convincingly in all the 17 local Government Areas in the state; we won by more than 11,000 votes.”

“The only problem is the result they allotted PDP in Nkanu East LGA which is not a true reflection of the votes cast; PDP padded the results and want INEC to accept it but we won’t allow it to happen,” Agbo asserted.

Meanwhile, APC has taken up their own protest legally; on Tuesday, they filed an originating summons against the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Barrister Festus Okoye and Dr. Chukwuemeka Joseph Chukwu in the Federal High Court of Nigeria.

APC seeks to nullify manipulated results in Enugu in suit no. FHC/ABJ/CS/390/2023.
