To boost learning in Nasarawa Polytechnic Lafia, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has executed projects worth N722 million in the Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Dr. Justina Kotso, the Rector of the Polytechnic confirmed the expenditures in Lafia, during the projects inauguration by TETFund as part of the institution’s pre-convocation activities for the 2013/2014 and 2021/2022 combined convocation ceremony which would take place on Wednesday in the school premises.

According to Kotso, the projects include a block of students’ hostels; a block of architecture studios and a block of civil engineering workshops and laboratories.

The Rector lauds TETFund for collaborating with the Nasarawa State government to site the building projects in the institution, pledging to ensure effective utilisation and maintenance of the structures for the betterment of all students of the polytechnic.

She said, “We deeply appreciate the unwavering support and continuous intervention of TETFund in our institution as evidenced in the construction and completion of these projects.

“I want to assure TETFund and the Nasarawa State government that our staff and students will protect these structures and put them into good use,” the Rector added.

The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono, who was represented by the Director, Monitoring and Evaluation, Arc. Babatunde Olajide, commended the management and staff of the polytechnic for their cooperation and efforts towards ensuring the timely completion of the projects.

“It is noteworthy that the projects being commissioned today fall under the Year 2021 Annual Special and Year 2022 Annual Intervention of the fund. We shall endeavour to sustain and improve our intervention activities within the ambits of the law towards making our public tertiary institutions globally competitive.” he added.

While inaugurating the projects, Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, who is the Visitor of the polytechnic, promised to continue to work with the management of the school to ensure its rapid growth and development.

The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Emmanuel Akabe said, “When we came into office in 2019, the accredited courses in the school were either Arts or Social Sciences but today, all technical courses have now been accredited. We will continue to put our eyes on this polytechnic so that it will become the best in the country.”
