Three persons have been sentenced to death by hanging in Jigawa State for criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, and armed robbery.

A high court in Kaugama in the State found the suspects Suleiman Bello, Auwalu Muhammed, and Yakubu Muhammed on nine-count charges for killing one Audu Saje of Manda village in Kaugama Local Government Area of the state and carted away with his motorcycle.

The defendants were also alleged to have abducted one Hadiza Abdullahi of Marma town in Kirikasamma LGA and demanded a ransom of N150 million.

According to court proceedings, three AK-47 rifles, one GPMG; nine magazines; 309 live ammunition; the sum of N2,070,000 cash, and a motorcycle belonging to the late Audu Saje were found in possession of the defendants during a raid on their hideout.

Five witnesses testified before the court in the case.

Delivering judgment, the presiding judge, Justice M. M Kaugama held that the prosecution led by the Attorney-General of Jigawa State, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, had proved the offenses against the 1st, 3rd, and 4th defendants (Suleiman Bello, Auwalu Muhammed, and Yakubu Muhammed).

However, the court discharged and acquitted the 2nd defendant, Ya’u Mai Hatsi on all the counts for the failure of the Prosecution to prove the charge of Abduction and Theft against him.
