The Police Operatives serving in the Special Weapons and Tactics, SWAT, a unit of Enugu State Command, has arrested two female suspects involved in child stealing and trafficking.
Acting on credible information, the operatives busted the child stealing and trafficking syndicates- Miracle Orji aged 24, and Blessing Ani aged 34; their arrest led to the rescue of two children: Ogechi Eneh (female) aged 4, and Destiny Okechukwu (male) aged 1.
The police bulletin signed by the Police Public Relations Office, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, reveals, “On 24/03/2023, Miracle Orji stole and was escaping with Ogechi Eneh, before she was intercepted and arrested with the assistance of citizens at Ameke-Oduma Community in Aninri Local Government Area in Enugu state.”
“Her confessional statement led to the arrest of Blessing Ani around Shoprite Mall Enugu, where she was waiting to receive and further traffic the child.”
Further investigation revealed that Blessing Ani has been involved in child trafficking since 2017.
After her confession, Ani led the Operatives to Abuja to rescue Destiny Okechukwu whom she sold off with fake documents; Destiny had been renamed Chibuike.
The suspects will be arraigned in court once the investigation into the case is concluded.
